Technical Notes 2022, Issue 201 - Formal Adoption of Local Development Plan 2

1. Council report PNCA/072/22/AL remitted officers to proceed with the formal adoption of Local Development Plan 2, including submission of the plan to Scottish Ministers.
    
2. On 28 November 2022, the Council received notification that Scottish Ministers do not intend to issue a Direction in relation to the Proposed LDP2. This means that the Council can adopt the plan in accordance with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 with immediate effect. As such, Local Development Plan 2 now constitutes the adopted plan for East Dunbartonshire and that Local Development Plan 1 (adopted 2017) has now been superseded.

3. For the avoidance of doubt, all planning application Reports of Handling and Planning Board Reports will refer to LDP2 as the adopted plan and will no longer refer to the 2017 plan.
    
4. The adopted LDP2 can be viewed on the Local Development Plan 2 webpage.
    
5. Paper copies of LDP2 will be made available to Members in due course.
    
6. Planning Circular 6/2013 requires that the following actions are undertaken after the authority has formally adopted the plan:
    
7. 1. Publish the plan on the Council’s website (complete).
   2. Place copies of the plan in public libraries (in-progress).
   3. Notify stakeholders who made representation on the proposed plan that it has now been adopted (in-progress).
   4. Advertise the adoption of the plan in a local newspaper (in-progress).
   5. Send two copies of the document to Scottish Ministers (in-progress).

Officers are currently undertaking the above tasks to ensure they are completed as quickly as possible.
