This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
Details:
  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to proposed disruption by Animal Rebellion in September to the UK dairy sector, in particular the supply and distribution of milk.

  2. The volunteer movement known as Animal Rebellion is planning various activities in an attempt to “stop the supply of dairy” this September.  In doing so, their aim is to get the “nation talking” about the dairy sector.  The disruption is planned over a two-week period, commencing 3 September 2022.

  3. Their intention is to blockade multiply dairy processing sites nationwide and target dairy aisles in supermarkets.  This action could disrupt the manufacturing and distribution of dairy products during this period.

  4. Muller UK is the Council’s main supplier of dairy products and are contingency planning to minimise possible disruption.

  5. The proposed disruption may affect the supply of dairy products i.e. milk and yogurts to Schools and Early Years Centres during the period of disruption.  As dairy products are perishable items, we are unable to procure and store in advance.

Water is available during the lunch service as a drink offering, along with milk and will be available to all pupils during this potential period of disruption.
