School Transport Provision for New Term
Responsible Officer:
Steven Wright, Business & ICT Support Services Manager
Publication:
This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Member. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
Details:

1. Unfortunately our contractors have not been able to fulfil all school transport contracts for the start of the new term. This is outwith the Council’s control and is as a result of both vehicle and driver shortages across the transport industry. A number of local authorities, are affected, not just East Dunbartonshire.

2. There will be no school transport on the following routes from Wednesday 17 August:

School Route/Pickup Points
Milngavie Primary School

Crawford Road, Blackwood Road, Finlay Rise Route

St Matthew’s Primary School Bishopbriggs North - Brackenbrae Route
St Nicholas’ Primary School Westerton/Baljaffray

All other school transport will operate as normal.

3. The Council was only advised of this situation late afternoon yesterday (Tuesday 16 August) and immediately took action to notify parents of the affected routes and to apologise for the short notice to families for them to make alternative arrangements.

4. We continue to work with our contractor and suppliers to try and resolve this situation and will keep parents advised both directly and through updates to the Council website.
