Details: 
  1. The purpose of this technical note is to inform members of the Landlord Registration Fees for 2023/24.
     
  2. Landlords are required to register to ensure that they meet legal requirements, joint owners (who are also named on the title deeds) are also required to register.
     
  3. Landlords can register online via Landlord register home - Scottish Landlord Register (landlordregistrationscotland.gov.uk) [opens in a new window] or alternatively can register in person with the Council’s Landlord Registration Team.
     
  4. Registration is valid for 3 years.  The fees for registration are set by the Scottish Government and any increases are determined by them annually and all 32 local Councils are informed of increases.
     
  5. The current fee for registration is £68 (reduced to £34 if registered with other local authorities) plus a further £16 per property. The late application fee is £137.   From 3 April 2023, the principal fee will be £75 (reducing to £37.50 if registered with other local authorities), while the Property Fee will now be £17 per property. The Late Fee is now £149 all of which are administered by the landlord registration team.
     
  6. There are currently 4810 Landlords registered in the East Dunbartonshire area (2771 rental properties).  According to the Landlord Registration site approximately 2000 landlords are due to renew their registration during 2023/24.
