Disruption to ICT Network and Softphones - Wednesday 10 June

As part of our ongoing support to home-working, delivering education at home and the delivery of many more services remotely through digital and softphone channels, we need to upgrade our Internet bandwidth.

The upgrade is essential for our ongoing resilience and will take place on Wednesday 10 June at 2pm, the earliest our provider is able to carry out this work.

There will be some disruption to Council services for up to 30 minutes as the upgrade takes place.  For those currently working from home this will include no access to email through IBM Notes, no access to our Council network drives, no access to the softphone, no access to most of our operational systems and no access to the internet. For those still working in the office there will be no access to the Internet and no access to hosted services such as CRM or SEEMIS.

Your line manager will discuss arrangements with you for key service areas during this planned short period of downtime to minimise the impact on our customers and on our workload.

For those of you with flexibility around your working day, we would encourage you to plan your day around this downtime and consider what you could be doing offline or arranging to take breaks during this brief period of disruption.

Whilst the Council website will be unaffected some elements that are hosted by the Council (such as the Planning Portal, Council Tax Online and Benefits Online) may also experience disruption and a message will be added to the website with additional social media messaging on Wednesday morning will advise of this.

We will issue a reminder on Wednesday morning ahead of the upgrade taking place and if you have any concerns in relation to service delivery during this brief time, please raise these with your line manager in the first instance.

Thanks in advance for your understanding as we improve our digital capabilities through this essential work.
