Milngavie is located to the north west of Glasgow in the valley of the River Allander. The town centre is known locally as ‘Milngavie Precinct’ and is based around the original village. It has been pedestrianised since the 1970’s.
‘Milngavie Precinct’ is a predominantly retail centre with a mix of small independent businesses and national companies. The precinct is a vibrant centre of the community and also offers a wide range of other services from banks & building societies to travel agents, opticians, doctor & dental surgeries.
Milngavie is a gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and is the start of the West Highland Way long distance footpath. Glasgow is close by and accessible by road and rail. There is a regular bus service to Glasgow and the rail station is linked to the Precinct via a pedestrian underpass. The precinct is adjoined by a number of public car parks which provide free car parking close to the pedestrianised area.
