A Play in a Fortnight - for ages 8-18. play in a fortnight image
Monday 19 – Friday 23 July and Monday 26 – Friday 30 July
10am – 4pm
Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie

Get those creative juices flowing and spend two weeks working with a professional director, writer, designer, and technician to present a new piece of theatre!   

You will write, create, rehearse, and perform a play with a performance for friends and family at the end. Taking inspiration from the life and work of artist Joan Eardley, you can choose to be members of the cast, backstage or writing teams.

Kirkintilloch Town Hall

Calling all budding Spielbergs - here's your chance to get behind the camera and create your own mini masterpiece exploring Kirkintilloch’s Heritage Quarter using mobile phones. Working with a team of skilled filmmakers you can choose whether to be behind the camera, in front of it or designing the sets. After a week your work will be presented on the big screen for friends and family to watch.  

You will learn about storytelling, performance techniques, film editing, set design while exploring your local heritage.

These events have been funded by Museums Galleries Scotland as part of the Scottish Government’s Get into Summer programme, supporting opportunities for children and young people to socialise, play and reconnect this summer.

Snack and Play Summer Holiday Provision

The Council is running a free Snack and Play provision over the summer holidays from 28 June 2021 until 30 July 2021 - 10am to 3pm each day.

Applications will be considered for children who meet the following criteria below:

  • Children from low income households who qualify for free school meals
  • Children who have been shielding during the pandemic
  • Care experienced children and young people
  • Children who require support as identified by the Head Teacher

The sessions will be held in local Hub Schools and will support children to take part in building friendships through team games, taking part in sports, arts and craft activities. A healthy meal offer will also be provided.

If you would like your child/children to take part in this programme and feel that they meet the criteria, please speak with the head teacher of your child’s school.

Please note you may not be offered the full five weeks as this will be subject to demand.

 

Secondary School Holiday Leisure and Activity Passes

Young people who meet the criteria detailed below will be offered an activity pass to take part in free leisure activities within one of the Council's Leisure Centres.  The pass will also provide young people with the opportunity to drop in to sessions delivered by our Youth Development workers. 

School holiday Leisure and Activity passes are prioritised for children who fall into one or more of these categories:

  • Children from low income households who qualify for free school meals
  • Children who have been shielding during the pandemic
  • Care experienced children and young people
  • Children who require support as identified by the Head Teacher
