The Council's Primary School Improvement Programme aims to modernise the primary school estate - providing fit-for-purpose, state-of-the-art schools with an enhanced learning environment.  The new schools will be of the highest modern standard and will better support the curriculum for learning.

The programme also addresses the issue of falling pupil numbers, increasing maintenance costs and reducing Council budgets.  The Council has a proud record of excellence in education and delivering new schools across the area is a major part of our ambition to maintain and build on that record.

The Primary School Improvement Programme – part of the Council's 10-year capital investment plan - will secure future savings and help protect frontline services, as well as providing schools fit for 21st-century learning.  Extensive consultation has been carried out with parents, pupils, staff, communities and a host of stakeholders throughout the PSIP process.
