A81 Milngavie – Bearsden Corridor Study 2015

In September 2014, AECOM was commissioned by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC) to carry out an update of a multi modal STAG (Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance) study which was undertaken in 2008 to reflect current travel demand patterns, land use and demographic trends. The previous study appraised the transport situation on the A81 in the Bearsden and Milngavie area; this led to the development of intervention options designed to improve transport conditions along the corridor.

The options assessed in 2008 were evaluated against 2014/15 conditions to ensure proposed options still meet the requirements of residents and businesses. This study is an evidence report delivered by independent transport consultants.  It is envisaged that the report will be used to inform development of future transport projects across East Dunbartonshire and will support delivery of the Council’s Local Transport Strategy (LTS) 2013-2017 and Emerging Local Development Plan.
