Many maintenance issues brought to light including surface issues, vegetation and lighting.

 

Two main ideas were received:

SRP requires major resurfacing due to tree roots.

Bridle Path between Foxes Grove, Initiative Rd and railway line requires maintenance including vegetation cut back and widening.

Other ideas included; Christine Way lighting and vegetation control, improved drainage on Waterside Rd, ground lighting on path near St. Ninian’s HS requires maintenance, trees on pavements near St. Ninian’s HS force students onto the road, canal path requires surface and lighting improvements, blocked drains on SRP cause flooding, refurbish Lenzie Moss boardwalk, Kirkintilloch Rd pavement requires surface improvement, Heath Avenue hedges need cutting back.

Off-road active travel infrastructure

Off-road path ideas were received, as well as suggestions to improve existing paths. Two ideas suggest cycling is incompatible with walking in Lenzie Moss.

 

Use former rail line to connect Torrance and Birdston, reinstate old bridge on SRP connecting Inchbelle Coup, Alton Holdings and Woodburn core path, remove obstruction on path at Auchendavie Rd near Tintock Rd, shared-use paths on A803 west of fire station, improve canal path on southern bank, make better use of Kelvin paths linking Kirkintilloch and Torrance, Broomhill development needs to link Kelvin and Glazert, active travel bridge under canal at Auchendavie Rd, extend SRP southward as part of National Cycle Network towards Drumpellier Country Park, widen canal path at Twechar, safe route linking Lenzie and Kirkintilloch to Glasgow (national cycle route), ramp to SRP entrance from Woodside Ave, path from Lenzie Moss to Lenzie Meadow PS with lighting, accessible bridge and lift at Lenzie Station, old rail infrastructure could be made into off-road paths, no cycling in Lenzie Moss, path around Gadloch, connect Broom Gardens and Christine’s Way for cyclists, add speed limit signage to Hawthorn Ave, path near Blackthorne Grove.

There seem to be gaps in pedestrian infrastructure that require addressing and improvements that need to be made to the current network of footways.

 

Dropped kerbs for improved access on Lapwing Ave and Garngaber Ave at SRP, pavement widening along Myrtle Ave for school access, pavements required on parts of Langmuir Rd; Initiative Rd; Campsie Rd to Strathkelvin House.
