COVID-19 Business Reopening Update

In Scotland, the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions) (Scotland) Regulations 2020, as amended - along with Scottish Government guidance - sets out which businesses can reopen and those which must currently remain closed. Trading Standards Officers and Environmental Health Officers are responsible for ensuring businesses are complying with legal requirements relating to the reopening of business premises and to the physical distancing measures that should be in place at business premises.

Move to Protection Level 3 on 26 April 2021

All Level 4 areas on mainland Scotland moved to Level 3 on 26 April 2021 and it is anticipated that all of Scotland will progress through the remaining protection levels - reaching Level Zero by the end of June.

As of 26 April 2021, all retail premises, close contact services and mobile services have been able to reopen, working in people’s homes has been able to resume, and gyms and swimming pools can open for individual exercise.

Driving lessons and tests can also resume and libraries, museums and galleries are able to reopen.

Hospitality premises, including pubs, bars and restaurants have been able to reopen, indoor and outdoors, with restrictions on physical distancing, capacity, alcohol service and operating hours.
