The Council has used the UK Government Secure Extranet (GSX) email accounts as the secure method to send and receive sensitive information. GSX is a secure computer wide area network (WAN) that allows organisations to interact and share data securely
In November 2017 the Cabinet Office issued a statement advising that all organisations using GSX email must stop using it by March 2019, when this service is planned to be decommissioned.
As of 25 January 2019, the Council will no longer use GSX e-mail addresses. If you send an email to an address ending in eastdunbarton.gcsx.gov.uk after this date you will receive a message explaining that your email has not been delivered, along with the instructions on how to resend.
If your organisation has also adopted the Government’s Secure Email Standard your email can be sent safely to the recipient at their @eastdunbarton.gov.uk email address.
For further information on the Government’s Secure Email Standard view the link.
Alternatively, if your organisation has not adopted the Government’s Secure Email Standard, you can sign up to a free Egress secure email account which can be used to securely email Council employees by following the link.
