Covid-19 Business Closures Update

Guidance on business closures and social distancing on business premises

The UK Government and Scottish Government have agreed a number of regulations and emergency restrictions as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  The legislation that has been passed in Scotland is the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions) (Scotland) Regulations 2020.

Our Trading Standards Officers and Environmental Health Officers are striving to make sure that local businesses are complying with legal requirements contained in Regulations 3 and 4.  These requirements relate to the closure of certain business premises and to the social distancing measures that should be put in place at business premises which can currently remain open.

Our officers will be working closely with colleagues from Police Scotland. Officers from Police Scotland will also be carrying out work to make sure that people are not gathering or making non-essential journeys during the emergency period.
