Scottish Child Payment

Scottish Child Payment (Bridging Payments)

Please note that local authorities are no longer responsible for making Child Bridging Payments. Following the payment made in December 2022 the process transitioned to the Scottish Child Payment administered by Social Security Scotland.

The Scottish Child Payment helps towards the costs of supporting families. It’s a weekly payment of £25 that families can get for every child they look after who’s under 16 years of age and it’s paid every 4 weeks if your application is successful.

It was not possible for Bridging Payment recipients to be automatically migrated to the new benefit, and therefore families must make an application.

Please visit the mygov website [opens in a new window] for more information about the benefit and details of how to apply.
