Residents will get a chance to share their local knowledge of flood hot spots as Surface Water Management Plans for Bearsden, Milngavie and Bishopbriggs move to the next stage.
The Council and its consultant advisers AECOM are in the process of developing the plans for the three areas.
Surface Water Management Plans (SWMP) are projects to address local flooding issues such as flooding from sewers, drains, groundwater, and runoff from land, small watercourses and ditches that occurs as a result of heavy rainfall.
The plans for Bearsden, Milngavie and Bishopbriggs have assessed the flood risks in the areas and have looked to identify long term, sustainable and achievable mitigation measures which can be implemented to manage the flood risk (including climate change affects) and reduce the flooding impacts on the towns, their environment and economy.
The plans also consider opportunities for associated benefits to the local communities such as enhanced water quality, landscape, and amenity value as well as improved biodiversity.
Public engagement events were held in June 2018 to gather information on local experiences of flooding. The project has now progressed to the option development stage and two further events have been organised to allow an opportunity for informal discussion around the potential list of sustainable flood management solutions that have been identified.
Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets committee, said, "Surface Water Management Plans aim to identify options to reduce local flooding and include a realistic action plan to implement or deliver the agreed management measures.
"They help to increase understanding of local flooding and where it occurs. This helps the Council make the right investment decisions when planning the delivery of actions to manage flood risk.
"I would encourage residents to come along to the drop-in sessions and share your local flood knowledge with representatives from the Council and the project consultants AECOM, who can also any questions you might have.
"Your feedback and input will also help inform the final phase of the plans to identify preferred solutions for the three areas and improve the long-term resilience of East Dunbartonshire to flood risk."

Once completed the SWMPs will be presented for consideration by the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency and the Scottish Government.
