At its meeting tonight (Thursday 26 September), Council agreed to the publication and consultation on the Main Issues Report for the area, which will inform the new Local Development Plan for East Dunbartonshire.

Joint Council Leader Vaughan Moody explained, “Local Development Plan 2 needs to be ready for 2022, and progressing to this next stage, consultation on our Main Issues Report, ensures we are on track in our plan to achieve this.

“The Main Issues Report has been developed following the early engagement, which took place between December 2018 and February 2019, where we asked our communities and stakeholders for their views on the local issues that Local Development Plan 2 should address.”

The Main Issues Report will now be published on the Council website and printed reference copies available in our libraries and key Council buildings.  The consultation on the Main Issues report will run from Tuesday 15 October until Tuesday 10 December 2019, with a series of eight engagement events where officers will be available to answer questions about this stage of Local Development Plan 2:

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson added, “I hope our participants in the early engagement we carried out at the start of this year can see that we have incorporated the issues they have raised, such as protecting the natural environment, the development of brownfield sites and ensuring we can meet future housing need.

“We had a great response to our early engagement exercise and would encourage everyone to participate in this consultation on this next stage, as the Main Issues Report absolutely informs our  Local Development Plan 2, which we will start to develop following the consultation.”
