What a result! Work is taking place to upgrade five-a-side football courts in Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs.football

A programme of improvements will see two courts at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre and two at the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs revamped with:

  • New 3G synthetic surfacing
  • 'Shock pads' underneath
  • All-over fencing/netting to ensure the ball remains within the court.

Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, said, "I am pleased to welcome these significant improvements to football courts in Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs - enhancing the playing experience for people of all ages.

"I look forward to seeing the new facilities when they are completed. Who knows, it may help to inspire Scotland's answer to Lionel Messi."

Sandy Marshall, Chair of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, added, "This is great news and will help to encourage people in the local area to get active and take advantage of the marvellous facilities on their doorstep."

Works kicked off in Kirkintilloch this week, with the Leisuredrome football court improvements starting next week.
