Time running out to ensure you are registered ahead of General Election

If you are not yet registered to vote and want to have a say on 12 December 2019 then you are being urged to act now.Senior EDC managers

The registration deadline for the next UK Parliamentary General Election is Tuesday 26 November 2019.

Local residents will vote in one of two constituencies depending on where they live:

  • East Dunbartonshire
  • Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East.

Returning Officer for East Dunbartonshire, Gerry Cornes, said, "If you are in any doubt as to whether you - or a member of your family - are registered to vote then please act now. It only takes a short amount of time to ensure that you are registered - so don't delay.

"Council and Electoral Registration Officers are working hard to prepare for the General Election on 12 December. Make sure your vote counts."

If you are not yet registered to vote - and live within the East Dunbartonshire Council area - applications must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute Electoral Registration Office, 235 Dumbarton Road, Clydebank G81 4XJ by midnight on Tuesday 26 November 2019.

Postal vote applications, amendments and cancellations must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November 2019.

Applications to vote by proxy at the forthcoming election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019.

The General Election will be run on a first-past-the-post basis, with people asked to vote for their choice by placing one X in one box.
