You could serve up a real net result for your community organisation if you apply to the Council before 4 October.employees, councillor holding cheque

That's the message from a pioneering sporting support group which benefited from a funding boost recently.

The Council's East Dunbartonshire Community Grants Scheme has £45,000 available to be distributed among organisations as part of the latest round.

Groups can apply for up to £3,000, provided they:

  • Have a constitution
  • Have a bank account
  • Are not for profit
  • Aim to bring benefits to the residents of East Dunbartonshire.

Allwyn Crawford, Project Lead - Head Coach of The Tennis Aces, is encouraging people to apply before the next deadline of Friday 4 October 2019.

She said, "I found out about the fund through the Council website. It was a clear form for filling out details and the e-mail support I received confirmed I had all the information required for applying.

"The grant was very much appreciated and is being used to pay for administrative support - covering many aspects of the project, including feedback questionnaires, funding searches, evaluations and day-to-day support."

Application forms and grant guidance are available on the Council website - visit www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/council/community-planning/community-grants-scheme for full details.applying for grant pic

The guidance outlines the range of eligible activities which can be funded - including start-up costs, special projects, equipment, salaries and running/capital costs - and the criteria by which grants are awarded.

Joint Council Leader, Councillor Vaughan Moody, said, "Don't miss out on the chance of funding support which goes directly to local organisations - big and small - helping them to continue their work at the heart of our communities. This excellent scheme is one of the ways that the Council provides funding to the community and voluntary sector."

Joint Council Leader, Councillor Andrew Polson, added, "If you are involved with an eligible organisation then take a leaf out of The Tennis Aces' book and apply now. It's a great way to access valuable support for important projects and work in local communities. If you need any help filling out the form, please get in touch via the website."

Applications are assessed by the Grants Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations for awards to the Community Planning Partnership.

Please note that sports or arts-related projects are required to apply to East Dunbartonshire Sports Council or East Dunbartonshire Arts Council in the first instance.

Organisations do not need to have Inland Revenue charitable status to apply.

If you are successful in receiving a grant, you will need to complete and return a monitoring and evaluation form towards the end of the grant period.

  • The Grants Advisory Committee (GAC) is made up of volunteers, who provide a broad range of knowledge and experience - ensuring that the decisions made regarding funding make the biggest difference possible to the communities of East Dunbartonshire.
  • There are currently a small number of vacancies on the GAC and people are being invited to come forward. It usually comprises 25 members of the local community and is a great way to find out about the hundreds of groups which exist in East Dunbartonshire.
  • Members help to decide how public funds are spent, benefiting people of all ages. Please e-mail communitygrants@eastdunbarton.gov.uk if you are interested in getting involved.
  • Don't worry if you haven't done anything like it in the past - support is available for new members and the GAC is keen to get as varied a mix as possible.
  •
