At its meeting last week, the Council’s Policy & Resources Committee agreed to maintain the taxi fares for the East Dunbartonshire area at the current levels.
There are a total of four Tariffs for East Dunbartonshire, based on time of day and key special Christmas and New Year dates as follows:
Tariff 1 from 6am to midnight
Tariff 2 from midnight to 6am
Tariff 3 from 6am to midnight on 24 December and 31 December and 6pm and midnight on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January
Tariff 4 from midnight to 6am on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January
Following the meeting, Convener of Policy & Resources, Councillor Andrew Polson explained, “We have carried out the required consultation both with the trade back in October of last year and with the public earlier this year.
“In reviewing our taxi fares locally we need to balance the increasing cost of living of taxi customers with the increasing running costs for taxi drivers and I think it is a fair decision to retain our local tariffs at current levels.”
