The coronavirus emergency has had a seismic effect on all communities and while public health remains the priority, it is vital for the Council - and its partners - to gauge the fiscal challenges being faced by all.

The Council is running an online survey in November to help inform the evolving Economic Recovery Plan (ERP) for East Dunbartonshire and future proposals to mitigate the devastating effects of the pandemic.

Visit www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/covid-19-economic-impact-survey - between 2 November and 30 November - to get involved. The survey asks questions about the impact of the pandemic on employment, local businesses, use of local amenities and travel behaviours. It also offers an opportunity to suggest potential future actions.

Councillor Andrew Polson, Joint Leader of the Council, said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has left no community untouched and continues to present massive challenges for us all. This survey aims to provide an up-to-date snapshot of the local economic situation - guiding the ERP and helping to ensure we provide targeted, co-ordinated support with our partners - both local and national."

Councillor Vaughan Moody, Joint Leader of the Council, added, "I would encourage everyone to take time out to engage with the survey. It is vitally important that we gather the views and experiences of businesses, employees and residents - to help to inform plans for community regeneration, local investment, environmental sustainability and future economic resilience."

The ERP has been produced by East Dunbartonshire Economic Partnership, of which the Council is a key member.

There are four priority areas within the ERP - Business, People, Community and Environment – with support and recovery actions set out for each.

* East Dunbartonshire Economic Partnership's membership includes the Council, Business Gateway, Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, Department for Work and Pensions, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, Federation of Small Businesses, Scottish Enterprise, Skills Development Scotland and VisitScotland.
