Still time to have a say on plans to develop East Dunbartonshire economy

Date:
Friday, 1 September, 2017

There is still time for you to have a say on a vital document which will help shape East Dunbartonshire's economy.

A Draft Economic Development Strategy (EDS) has been prepared - detailing potential actions as regards local business, town centres, tourism and the environment.

A series of public drop-in events are currently underway and an online survey is live until 28 September.

The EDS has been prepared by East Dunbartonshire Economic Partnership, led by the Council - following initial consultation with local residents, community groups, businesses and partner organisations.

Drop-in consultation events have already taken place at Kirkintilloch Canal Festival and in Milngavie Library.

The next events take place at:

  • Bearsden Community Hub - Tuesday 5 September, 3pm-7pm
  • Bishopbriggs Library (currently located in the War Memorial Hall) - Tuesday 12 September, 3pm-7pm
  • Kirkintilloch Community Hub - Tuesday 19 September, 3pm-7pm

You can view the draft EDS by vising the Consultations section of the Council website or by going to eastdunbarton.gov.uk/emerging-economic-development-strategy-2017

You can have your say on the content of the EDS online - www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ZPDBCQH - by Thursday 28 September.

Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said, "The draft plan includes a range of local actions to support local business, town centres, tourism and the environment - to be delivered by the Council and community planning partners.

"A series of public drop-in events are currently underway, but don't worry if you can't attend - you can contribute via our online survey.

"I would encourage as many people as possible to read the draft strategy and get involved - either by attending one of the drop-in meetings or filling in the survey by 28 September."
