Christmas treeEarn your place on Santa’s nice list by making sure that once the celebrations are over you recycle your real Christmas tree and festive cards.

From Tuesday 5 January 2021 you can dispose of your real tree in a skip at these locations:

  • William Patrick Library car park, Kirkintilloch
  • Mavis Valley Recycling Centre, Bishopbriggs

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson is urging all residents to keep up the good work when it comes to recycling. “While a lot of things are likely to be different about this Christmas, we would urge the residents of East Dunbartonshire to keep up their tradition of being great at recycling. You can recycle your non-tinsel Christmas cards by placing them in the blue bin and you can take your Christmas tree to one of our recycling sites to ensure that it doesn’t contribute to rubbish going to landfill.”

Joint Council Leader Vaughan Moody, added, "If you're unable to take your tree to a recycling point, you can call our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 4510. We can arrange for your Christmas tree to be picked up or your garden waste bin emptied, free of charge, between Saturday 16 January and Saturday 23 January 2021. It might be an unusual Christmas this year but it can still be a green Christmas.”
