The park has created a new BBQ hut for families and groups, and a children's Toadstool Trail.

It follows confirmation from VisitScotland that the park has retained its four-star rating.

VisitScotland has praised the "excellent standard of visitor experience" and "hard work" put in by everyone involved to ensure it kept its grading.

The new BBQ hut complements the existing BBQ sites - which are well used in the summer - and will provide an indoor alternative for up to 20 people.

The Toadstool Trail - funded through Tesco Bags of Help - takes small children on a tour of woodland creatures, with information panels and a quiz.

Jim Gibbons, Chair of Mugdock Country Park Joint Management Committee, said, "I'm delighted to welcome these new attractions to the park and I'm sure they will prove popular with our many visitors.

"I'm also pleased to acknowledge that Mugdock has retained its four-star rating. We won't be resting on any laurels though - our aim now is to secure five stars."

David Adams McGilp, VisitScotland regional director, said, "Congratulations to everyone at Mugdock Country Park on retaining their four-star grading. This reflects an excellent standard of visitor experience and consistently achieving this grading shows the hard work put in by the whole team."

Classic horror movie 'The Blair Witch Project' was shown on a big screen at Mugdock Castle as part of the festival's 'Secret Location' screenings.

Attendees purchasing tickets had no idea where the two screenings would take place - only that their bus would depart from Glasgow's George Square.

The fright-tastic fun included a trek through the woods, eerie lighting on the lake and castle walls, actors among the shadows, infamous 'stick men' wooden symbols from the film and a campsite where someone was desperately trying to help a companion...

Mugdock is no stranger to the world of film and recently played host to 'Outlaw King', which was shot on location at the park.
