St Andrew’s Primary School Closing Events

With the new St Nicholas’ Primary School due to open next August, pupils and staff at St Andrew’s Primary School are busy organising events to mark the closure of their school.

St Andrew’s Primary School opened its doors to pupils for the first time in 1969 and since then thousands of children from across Bearsden have attended every year.

Acting Headteacher Mrs Grogan is keen to put together a gallery of photographs from throughout the decades and is appealing to ex-pupils and teachers to lend them to the school.  She said, “As part of our celebrations to mark the closing of the school, we will be opening the doors to past pupils, teachers, friends and neighbours for a walk down memory lane.  If anyone has any old pictures that they would be happy to lend us, we would love to hear from them.”

As well as the ‘walk down memory lane’ the school is planning a daffodil tea, a special sports day, a final disco for pupils and a ‘through the decades’ assembly during the month of June.  The final school mass will be held on Friday 22 June at 10am in St Andrew’s church.

Mrs Grogan continued, “The new St Nicholas’ Primary School looks absolutely fantastic and the children are very excited about it, but we are all going to miss St Andrew’s Primary.  I know that many past pupils and teachers look back at their time here with great fondness and I hope that they will come along to take a walk down memory lane with us on Tuesday, 5 June from 3.15 to 4.45pm and join us at our final school mass in St Andrew’s church.”

If you have any photographs you would like to lend to the school please call 0141 955 2248 or email office@st-andrews.e-dunbarton.sch.uk.
