The Council will restart its bulk waste collection service next week in the final stage of the phased reintroduction of waste collections following the pandemic suspension.

While general waste collections have continued throughout the Covid-19 crisis, bulk or special uplifts were suspended during the early lockdown period. Following the winter stoppage of green bin collections on Sunday 15 November, the Council will be in a position to restart bulk uplifts from Monday 16 November with some extra precautions in place to ensure the safety of employees.

Residents are being asked to ensure that there is unrestricted access to the collection location noted during the booking process. Where possible, items must be disinfected prior to collection and assisted collections from inside properties are not possible at this time.

Requests can be made online from Thursday 12 November and residents are advised to use the online booking system if possible although bookings can also be arranged through Customer Services on 0300 123 4510. Residents are advised that items will be collected at the earliest opportunity

Joint Leader of the Council, Vaughan Moody said, “After taking measures to ensure the safety of the workforce, we are pleased to confirm that bulk uplift collections will resume from Monday 16 November.

“We know this news will be welcomed and we would like to thank residents for their patience and support as we have sought to balance the maintenance of essential services with the need to protect our employees and meet government and NHS guidelines on social distancing.

Joint Leader of the Council, Andrew Polson added, "I would like to thank our waste team for all their hard work during the months of lockdown. They have adapted to the new working arrangements as we move forward in our response to the Covid crisis. I would also like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation in helping us keep our employees safe.”
