Sneak peek inside reopened gallery and museum

auld kirk museumThe Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch and The Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie are now ready to welcome visitors back. Both venues opened their doors again today, Tuesday 13 October 2020.

Visitors can be assured that all Scottish Government guidance and public health advice in relation to COVID- 19 is being followed and they can be sure of a warm welcome.

These videos explain the new arrangements, and feature a walk-through of both buildings. See the Auld Kirk Museum in all its glory and become reacquainted with the Lillie Art Gallery .

The biggest change is the requirement to book in advance but this has been made as easy as possible with online and phone options available. Visitors should book using www.eventbrite.co.uk or call the Museum on 0141 777 3013 or the Gallery on 0141 956 5536.

Councillor Andrew Polson, Joint Council Leader, said, "It is great news the Lillie Art Gallery and Auld Kirk museum are reopening as we know how much they have been missed by people living in our communities.

"In an online survey carried out in August, 87% of respondents said they thought it was very valuable or valuable for people to engage in cultural activities as part of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, so we’re really pleased that, people can now enjoy the calm surroundings and wonderful exhibits at these much loved venues.”

The team has been working very hard in preparation and are very much looking forward to opening their doors once again.

"We would encourage anyone interested in going along to watch these videos and to remember to book their visit in advance, either online or by telephone.”
