Scottish Council Election – East Dunbartonshire results

The people of East Dunbartonshire went to the polls on Thursday 5 May 2022 to cast their vote in the Scottish local elections.

The following results in alphabetical order, were declared by Returning Officer Gerry Cornes following the count of the votes on Friday 6 May:

Ward 1 (Milngavie)

Jim Gibbons (Scottish National Party);
Alix Mathieson (Scottish Conservative and Unionist);
Aileen Polson (Scottish Liberal Democrats).

Ward 2 (Bearsden North) -

Duncan Cumming (Independent);
Alan Reid (Scottish Liberal Democrat Focus Team);
Calum Smith (Scottish National Party).

Ward 3 (Bearsden South) –

Ian Gallagher (Scottish National Party);
Vaughan Moody (Scottish Liberal Democrats);
Andrew Polson (Scottish Conservative and Unionist).

Ward 4 (Bishopbriggs North and Campsie) –

Paul Ferretti (Scottish National Party);
Billy Hendry (Scottish Conservative and Unionist);
Colette McDiarmid (Labour and Co-operative Party);
Lynda Williamson (Scottish National Party).

Ward 5 (Bishopbriggs South) –

Gordan Low (Scottish National Party);
Alan Moir (Labour and Co-operative Party);
Ben Rose (Scottish Liberal Democrats).

Ward 6 (Lenzie and Kirkintilloch South) –

Mr Cornes said, "Once again safety was at the forefront of our minds in the planning and preparation for this election and count.

"I am glad to say there were no significant problems or issues throughout the day at either our polling stations or the count at The Leisuredrome and everyone worked incredibly hard to ensure everything was done safely and smoothly.

"I’d like to thank everyone working at the count, the polling station officers, the candidates, my election team and all who have helped in any way to make this election process a success.”
