Scottish Council Election – East Dunbartonshire results

The people of East Dunbartonshire went to the polls on Thursday 4 May 2017 to cast their vote in the Scottish local elections.

The following results in alphabetical order, were declared by Returning Officer Gerry Cornes following the count of the votes on Friday 5 May:

Ward 1 (Milngavie)

Jim Gibbons (Scottish National Party);
Jim Goodall (Scottish Liberal Democrats);
Graeme McGinnigle (Conservative).

Ward 2 (Bearsden North) -

Duncan Cumming (Independent);
Sheila Mechan (Conservative);
Rosie O’Neil (Liberal Democrats).

Ward 3 (Bearsden South) –

Denis Johnston (SNP);
Vaughan Moody (Liberal Democrats);
Andrew Polson (Conservative).

Ward 4 (Bishopbriggs North and Campsie) –

Paul Ferretti (SNP);
Mohrag Fischer (SNP);
Billy Hendry (Conservative);
Gary Pews (Liberal Democrats).

Ward 5 (Bishopbriggs South) –

Alan Brown (Conservative);

Alan Moir (Labour).

Ward 6 (Lenzie and Kirkintilloch South) –

Rod Ackland (Liberal Democrats);
Gillian Renwick (SNP);
Sandra Thornton (Conservative).

Ward 7 (Kirkintilloch East and North and Twechar)

John Jamieson (SNP);
Stewart MacDonald (Labour);
Susan Murray (Liberal Democrats).

Mr Cornes said, "I would like to thank everyone who helped to ensure that the local elections for East Dunbartonshire went so smoothly.

"I am glad to say there were no significant problems or issues throughout the day at either our polling stations or the count at The Leisuredrome.

"Everyone working at the count did a great job and I would like to thank them for their hard work.

"I would also like to extend a thank you to all the polling station officers, the candidates, and all those who have helped in any way to make this election process a success.”
