A troupe of talented musicians can't wait to entertain
audiences of all ages as they travel from Germany to the Edinburgh
Fringe to Mugdock Country Park.
ACCOLLAGE ̱ the Accordion Orchestra of Lower
Saxony (Northern Germany) - will be performing at Mugdock's
bandstand on Saturday 22 August from 2-4pm.
The visit has been arranged between the
orchestra, East Dunbartonshire Council and Caulders Garden Centres
- which operates the bandstand and walled garden.
ACCOLLAGE will be aiming to get toes tapping
with a mix of accordion-based soul, pop and rock.
The group will be coming to Mugdock after
performing as part of the Edinburgh Fringe - making this their
first Scottish tour.
Councillor Eric Gotts, Chair of Mugdock
Country Park Joint Management Committee, said, "We are delighted we
have been able to help such a prestigious band perform in Scotland
and I'm sure this will be very popular with visitors to
Mugdock.
"ACCOLLAGE are known for interpreting pop,
rock and classical music on accordions, so it's set to be an
entertaining and potentially unique concert.
"I hope as many people as possible come along
to Mugdock on 22 August to see ACCOLLAGE and also take time to
discover the delights of the country park.
"Concerts like this and the recent MugStock
festival will hopefully lead to more events taking place within the
breathtaking grounds of Mugdock Country Park - with resulting
benefits for the park and the East Dunbartonshire economy."
ACCOLLAGE was founded in 1985 as the National
Youth Accordion Orchestra of Lower Saxony and was open solely to
young talented accordionists. It has since progressed to include
accordion players, drummers and bassists of all ages.
Musical Director Ralf Schwarzien said, "We are
delighted to be performing at Mugdock Country Park on 22
August.
"As a group we have always liked to push the
boundaries of what people traditionally think of accordion music
and we can't wait to enjoy a Garden Party with Scottish music
fans."
Meanwhile, a family-friendly festival has been praised for
breaking new ground at Mugdock Country Park.
Hundreds of people flocked to MugStock over
the weekend (7-9 August) to enjoy a fantastic range of live music,
family-friendly activities and performances.
The festival was a not-for-profit event,
managed and run by a team of skilled and experienced volunteers -
supported by East Dunbartonshire Council, sponsors and more.
There was live music, theatre, circus fun and
activities such as woodland rambles, storytelling, archery, crafts
and more.
Councillor Gotts said, "We were delighted when
the organisers chose Mugdock Country Park to host this very special
event - which proved to be a real hit with people of all ages and
from all over Scotland and beyond.
"Given this was the first year, the
organisers' achievements were incredible - delivering a very
successful three days and giving MugStock a terrific platform to
build on for next year.
"It's great to see such innovative ideas being
brought to fruition. I am particularly pleased by the strong
support which was provided by country park colleagues and the
Council.
"MugStock shows exactly what can be achieved
when talented organisers, inspirational surroundings, committed
colleagues and supporters work in harmony.
"As well as boosting visitor numbers, MugStock
has helped to introduce a whole new audience to the park - one of
the jewels in Scotland's crown - where there's a wealth of
activities, attractions and events all year round."
Councillor Gotts expressed hope that the
success of MugStock could lead to more events taking place within
the breathtaking grounds of Mugdock Country Park - with resulting
benefits for the East Dunbartonshire economy.
