Recycling centre closure in Torrance

Date:
Friday, 31 March, 2017

The West Carlston Garden Centre in Torrance is set to close today (Friday 31 March) meaning residents will no longer be able to access the recycling centre that is located there.

The Council is working hard to find an alternative location for the recycling banks in the town, but in the interim residents are being asked to temporarily use alternative recycling sites in Bishopbriggs located at Asda, the Co-op in Lennoxtown, or our Mavis Valley Recycling Centre.

Thomas Glen, Depute Chief Executive - Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets at East Dunbartonshire Council, said, “East Dunbartonshire has some of the highest recycling rates in the country and the site at West Carlston Garden Centre was well used. We are fortunate in having plenty of other sites where people can take recycling items while we source a new location in Torrance. This is just a temporary measure, but in the meantime we apologise to local people for any inconvenience this closure will cause.”
