Date:
Friday, 29 June, 2018

Provost Alan Brown has raised the Armed Forces flag at the Council HQ in Kirkintilloch in recognition of Armed Forces Day which falls this year on Saturday 30 June 2018.

Provost Brown said, “We raise the flag in recognition of Armed Forces Day every year and I am delighted to be continuing this tradition in 2018.  As Armed Forces Day falls on a Saturday, we will ensure that the flag is raised for the whole weekend.”

“The Council is proud of its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces, demonstrated most recently by signing the Armed Forces Covenant with the Ministry of Defence earlier this week.

Armed Forces Day takes place each year on the last Saturday in June.  Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

Provost Brown continued, “Armed Forces Day is a great opportunity to demonstrate the Council’s support to the Armed Forces community.”
