Putting the 'Tee' into Thomas Muir with EDLC

Talented locals of all ages put the 'Tee' into Thomas Muir recently when they created unique tributes to the 'father of Scottish democracy'.

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust teamed up with the Friends of Thomas Muir recently as part of this year's festival in his memory.

The Trust's Trails and Tales team held free parent and child t-shirt printing workshops at Woodhill Evangelical Church in Bishopbriggs.

Locals of all ages learned to screen print using images relating to the Thomas Muir story.

The process used collage and ready-made pre-cut paper stencils to layer images over each other - creating unusual and spontaneous designs.

Councillor Anne Jarvis, Chair of EDLC Trust, said, "The event was a very creative way to highlight the life and times of Thomas Muir, with unexpected and exciting results.

"Each t-shirt was unique and the workshop was a great success. I hope it inspires people to learn new skills and find out more about Thomas Muir."

The opportunity was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Creative Scotland.
