Pupils get set to return to Holy Family Primary School

Pupils at Holy Family Primary School will be returning to their school building in Boghead Road, Lenzie early next month, after the mid-term break.

Since August 2015 the school has been operating temporarily from the former Lairdsland Primary School building in Kerr Street to allow for essential structural repairs to be carried out to the Boghead Road building. The nursery was not affected as it is located in a separate wing of the Holy Family building.

Two additional closure days were added to the February mid-term holidays for Holy Family pupils to help the move from the temporary building back to their own building go smoothly. The school will be closed on Thursday 16 February and Friday 17 February 2017 but there are no additional closure days required for the nursery.

Convener of Education, Councillor Maureen Henry is delighted that everything remains on schedule for the return to Lenzie. She said, “This is welcome news for the pupils and teachers at Holy Family Primary School who I know are very keen to get back to their own building.

“It is also great news for the nursery school children who will now be reunited with the rest of the school on a day to day basis.

“The additional days of closure will give Council teams time to move resources and furniture and get the school set up to welcome the children back after the February mid-term holiday.  Detailed planning is underway to manage the transition for staff, parents and pupils and I would like to thank everyone for all their support throughout this process.”
