HRH  Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

HRH Duke of Edinburgh
10 June 1921 - 9 April 2021

Following the sad news of the death of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on Friday 9 April 2021, Provost Alan Brown has paid tribute:

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, today. As Civic Head of East Dunbartonshire I will be sending my sincere condolences from the people of East Dunbartonshire, to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family. Generations of young people from East Dunbartonshire have benefited from the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme over the years.

"Not only was he an inspirational and well respected representative of the Royal Family, he was also a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and my thoughts are with all members of the Royal Family at this sad time.”

Provost Alan Brown
East Dunbartonshire

A book of condolence has also been opened on the British Monarchy website for tributes and we are all reminded to express condolences in the safest way possible, to continue to follow all coronavirus guidance and not to gather at Royal Residences.

Members of the public are asked to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, or one of the Duke of Edinburgh's Patronages in memory of His Royal Highness rather than leaving floral tributes.
