Provost congratulates East Dunbartonshire residents named in New Year's Honours List

image of medalsThe first business of 2019 for East Dunbartonshire's Provost Alan Brown was to write to four local people named in the New Year's Honours List to congratulate them.

The four who have been honoured are:

  • Professor Iain McInnes from Bearsden, a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation at the University of Glasgow. He received a CBE for services to medicine.
  • Rajinder Singh Bajwe from Bearsden. He received an MBE for services to the hospitality industry and to charity in Glasgow.
  • Rosemary Wright from Bearsden, a Superintendent in Local Policing Development and Support with Police Scotland. She received an MBE for services to mental health issues.
  • Alistair John Whitelaw from Lenzie, an Officer in the 1st Lenzie Company of the Boys' Brigade. He has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the Boys' Brigade.

Provost Alan Brown said, "On behalf of the people of East Dunbartonshire I would like to publicly congratulate all those honoured by HM Queen in the New Year's Honours List.

"Their contributions are wide and varied but what they have in common is a dedication to improving the communities in which they live and work. It is right that they have been recognised in this way and I would like to thank them for their continued endeavours."
