PressReader launches on World Book Night

Date:
Monday, 1 April, 2019

Chitra RamaswamyFrom World Book Night (23 April), residents across East Dunbartonshire will have access to the EDLC Trust's brand new digital service - PressReader.

The all-you-can-read digital newsstand, offers avid readers unlimited, free access to over 6,000 newspapers and magazines from around the world.

This new service will be launched by award winning Guardian journalist and author Chitra Ramaswamy at a free event in Kirkintilloch.

She will discuss her career as a journalist, her experience of pregnancy and life as a new mother and will speak about her book, ‘Expecting: the inner life of pregnancy’.

Sandy Marshall, Chair of EDLC Trust, said, "This is a fantastic new service that I am sure will be popular with library users. All our libraries are PressReader Hotspots, enabling free access in library buildings while connected to the WiFi. At home, members can access PressReader using their library card and pin."

Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, added, "Launching PressReader is just another example of how libraries are modernising to provide people with the kind of services they want. Tying the launch in with an author visit gives local people the opportunity to come along and explore everything our libraries offer.

It is a family friendly event with children and babies very welcome! Places should be booked via Eventbrite (EDLCCulture.eventbrite.com) and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Booking details are:
