Young Gaelic learners have been taking advantage of the better weather to build castles in the sandpit, cook up a storm in the mud kitchen and enjoy the new outdoor play apparatus.   The outdoor area also boasts grass mat tiles and plenty of storage for bikes and large items of outdoor equipment.

The Council has invested £26k, from Scottish Government funding, in the new facility to improve learning outcomes for the children in line with the Council’s Gaelic Language Plan.

Vice Convener of Education, Councillor Graeme McGinnigle said, “Outdoor learning is a fundamental aspect of early learning and development for all learners and for the Gaelic Nursery it offers children the opportunity to hear and practise the Gaelic language with their peers and adults within a new setting. It not only benefits the children currently attending, but increases the capacity of the nursery to better meet the requirement of 1140 hours which will come into effect in 2020.”
