Notice of Poll published for East Dunbartonshire constituency

The Notice of Poll has been published for the East Dunbartonshire constituency - detailing the candidates standing in the UK Parliamentary General Election on 12 December 2019.ballot box

Local residents will vote in one of two constituencies depending on where they live:

  • East Dunbartonshire
  • Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East.

Nominations closed yesterday (Thursday) and the East Dunbartonshire Notice of Poll has been published online - www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/council/elections-and-voting/uk-parliamentary-general-election-2019

Candidates standing to be Member of Parliament (MP) for the East Dunbartonshire constituency are (in alphabetical order):

  • Amy Callaghan - Scottish National Party (SNP)
  • Rosie Dickson - Independent
  • Pam Gosal - Scottish Conservative & Unionist
  • Donald Murdo MacKay - UK Independence Party (UKIP)
  • Liam McKechnie - Scottish Family Party - Putting Families First
  • Callum McNally - Scottish Labour Party
  • Carolynn Scrimgeour - Scottish Green Party
  • Jo Swinson - Scottish Liberal Democrats.

Residents will be asked to vote on Thursday 12 December 2019, between 7am and 10pm. At this election, people will vote for their choice to be MP by placing one X in one box.

Candidates standing to be MP for the Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East constituency are (in alphabetical order):

  • Roz McCall - Scottish Conservative and Unionist
  • Stuart Campbell McDonald - Scottish National Party (SNP)
  • James Daniel McPhilemy - Scottish Labour Party
  • Susan Murray - Scottish Liberal Democrats.

If you are not yet registered to vote - and live within the East Dunbartonshire Council area - applications must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute Electoral Registration Office, 235 Dumbarton Road, Clydebank G81 4XJ by midnight on 26 November 2019.

Postal vote applications, amendments and cancellations must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on 26 November 2019.

Applications to vote by proxy at the forthcoming election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on 4 December 2019.

Returning Officer for East Dunbartonshire, Gerry Cornes, said, "I would like as many people as possible to exercise their right to vote on 12 December so please make sure you are registered.
