Notice of Election published for East Dunbartonshire constituency

The countdown to the UK Parliamentary General Election on 12 December 2019 has officially begun with the publication of the Notice of Election for the East Dunbartonshire constituency.image of washing machines

Local residents are set to vote in one of two constituencies depending on where they live:

  • East Dunbartonshire
  • Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East.

The East Dunbartonshire Notice of Election is now available - www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/council/elections-and-voting/uk-parliamentary-general-election-2019

Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer, East Dunbartonshire Council, Marina Headquarters, 12 Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch G66 1TJ - Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm. Nominations must be received by 4pm on Thursday 14 November 2019.

If more than one candidate stands in East Dunbartonshire then residents will be asked to vote on Thursday 12 December 2019, between 7am and 10pm.

If you are not yet registered to vote - and live within the East Dunbartonshire Council area - applications must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Dunbartonshire & Argyll & Bute Electoral Registration Office, 235 Dumbarton Road, Clydebank G81 4XJ by midnight on 26 November 2019.

Postal vote applications, amendments and cancellations must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on 26 November 2019.

Applications to vote by proxy at the forthcoming election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address above by 5pm on 4 December 2019.

Returning Officer for East Dunbartonshire, Gerry Cornes, said, "Preparations are underway for the administration of the UK Parliamentary General Election on Thursday 12 December 2019.

"If you are eligible to vote then this is the time to check you are registered in order to ensure you are able to take part in the General Election next month. Please act now to avoid disappointment nearer the time.

"If you are not registered, then you will not be able to vote. Make sure your vote counts on 12 December 2019."
