Mum's the word as Kilmardinny House plays host to a special day in celebration of marvellous matriarchs.

The A-listed Bearsden building is holding a number of lunches on Mother's Day - Sunday 11 March.

There will be various lunchtime sittings - with a glass of bubbly on arrival, followed by a two or three-course meal, as well as tea and coffee. The Mother's Day special costs £14.95 (two courses) or £16.95 (three courses).

Kilmardinny House is building a reputation as a first-class venue, having hosted 210 people at its recent Christmas lunches.

The Mother's Day menu includes soup, smoked Scottish salmon, chicken liver parfait, thyme-roasted chicken, pan-fried fillet of cod, Ayrshire roast beef, wild mushroom risotto, apple and pear crumble, and more.

The lunches are being organised by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust and specialist caterers Elior.

Sandy Marshall, Chair of EDLC Trust, said, "Why not celebrate your mum in style this Mother's Day - Sunday 11 March - by treating her to a fantastic day out at Kilmardinny House?

"I'm pleased to hear that 210 people attended the Kilmardinny Christmas lunches - where they were served first-class festive food and drink and got the chance to see the newly-improved facility at first hand.

"Kilmardinny is also taking bookings for weddings, family occasions, arts events, conferences, community meetings and more."

Kilmardinny House was recently rejuvenated by a £2.73m programme of works - delivered by East Dunbartonshire Council in conjunction with the Trust and development partner hub West Scotland with Clark Contracts.

Lunches will be served in the new garden pavilion extension - which provides a modern, flexible space able to accommodate a range of activities, including performances, celebrations, exhibitions and more.

The main house - located in Kilmardinny Avenue, Bearsden - offers a range of rooms and studios for use by local arts and community groups, as well as individuals, companies and organisations.
