PlayparkMains Park play area in Milngavie is looking sm-art thanks to a stunning new park fence designed by some creative Clober Primary pupils.

In conjunction with the Mains Estate Resident Association, the Council's Streetscene Technical Support team contracted Elspeth Bennie of The Two Ravens Forge to create a series of panels depicting the plants and animals of Mains Park.

The Primary 7 pupils worked with Elspeth to create clay images and drawings of the wildlife and wildflowers found in the park which were then developed into images and then translated into a series of metal panels.

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson, said, “Congratulations to all involved in creating these attractive pieces of artwork. This is a great example of partnership working and of imaginative thinking by our Streetscene team. The pupils should be delighted with the result. As well as having a practical purpose, they enhance the look of a much loved play park.”

Joint Council Leader Vaughan Moody, added, “The project has clearly caught the imagination of the children who have worked with Elspeth to create some beautiful depictions of local wildlife. It is a lovely feature in the play park which will be enjoyed by all those who use it over the coming years.”

"It is good to have now completed the railings around the play park equipment. The play park brings great enjoyment to many young children and families within our community.

"We are especially delighted with the bespoke artwork panels, created by local artist Elspeth Bennie, in collaboration with the pupils of Clober Primary School.

"The involvement of local children in the design of the artwork, inspired by the nature in the park, makes a real community connection and has made this project extra-special."
