The Council’s website has been awarded an improved 3-star rating in the annual Society of IT Managers (SOCITM) review of local government websites across the UK.

Council Leader Gordan Low explains, “The Society of IT Managers assess all council websites each year rating them from one to four stars where one star is poor and four stars are excellent.  Since the launch of the new website in late 2015, the Council has continued to add improvements and developments, progressing to a 3-star rank for 2017.”

Only four councils in Scotland achieved 4-stars this year with only one of those retaining their 4-star status from the previous year.

Councillor Low continued, “New features have been added to East Dunbartonshire’s website this year, including tabs to help online visitors find services relating to whether they are residents, visitors or businesses or are seeking information on the Council and Councillors.  A new EDLC Trust site and the Health and Social Care Partnership website can also now be accessed from the Council home page.

“But there are also further developments in the pipeline through our website action plan and the Transformation programme that will see new features and transactional services enabled so that online visitors can access our services at a time that best suits them, 24/7.”

The SOCITM assessment period ran from November 2016 to May 2017 and the more detailed results for East Dunbartonshire confirm that the Council’s website continues to be accessible, achieves an excellent 4-stars in terms of its mobile device responsiveness and the information online was found to be relevant and jargon free.
