They are celebrating their recent inspection report success and kicking off the new term with lots of new ideas for the future.

Inspectors from Education Scotland visited the school on the banks of the Forth & Clyde canal in April 2018, three years after it opened*. The report highlighted a number of key strengths of the school including:

  • Strong partnership working to enrich children’s experiences and secure better outcomes for all children
  • Happy, friendly children who are proud of their school and who respond well to the opportunities they have to take on leadership roles.
  • The effective leadership of the headteacher and deputes to drive forward improvement and to ensure all children access the same positive learning experiences
  • The strong ethos of teamwork and dedication of all staff to work with each other and colleagues across the cluster to develop their practice.

East Dunbartonshire’s Education Convener, Councillor Jim Goodall, visited the school to meet pupils and teachers. He said, “It was a pleasure to meet everyone at the school; everyone seemed optimistic about its future, happy to be back at school. There is much to celebrate in the inspection report findings, a strong platform of success on which it can build that future.”

Headteacher Fiona Donaghey added, “I am delighted for my team that their hard work and commitment to the children of Lairdsland Primary has been recognised. We have settled very well into our fabulous new school and have wonderful support from parents and carers. We will keep working together to ensure that our pupils have the best possible educational experience.”
