Date:
Tuesday, 10 March, 2020

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust is looking for someone passionate about promoting leisure and culture services to join its board.

Applications are being sought for the appointment of an Independent Director who will work with partner directors and independent members on the EDLC Trust Board to oversee the delivery of local leisure and cultural services - including three leisure centres, eight libraries, a museum, art gallery and arts centre.

Applicants should be knowledgeable in either or both leisure and cultural services and skills in a profession or other capacity that would add value and support to Board decisions would also be an advantage.

Councillor Vaughan Moody, Joint Leader of the Council and Chair of the East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust, said, "We would like to hear from people who have an interest in public service and who are committed to promoting leisure and cultural services.

"This is a great opportunity to shape the delivery and development of our current range of services which include our three leisure centres, pitches, pavilions, libraries and museums. Services such as Sports Development and Active Schools programmes are also part of the Leisure and Culture Trust."

On average, Directors will serve on the Board and Sub Groups around six days per year. This may involve travelling to venues throughout East Dunbartonshire as and when required. However, meetings of the Board will normally be held in Kirkintilloch. The appointment is initially for a fixed term of 2-3 years, with the possibility of re-appointment. The Directors are voluntary roles, however they are entitled to receive costs incurred while serving, including travel (in Scotland), subsistence and all reasonable expenses

Anyone interested in applying for the role should send their CV and covering letter by email to maeve.kilcoyne@eastdunbarton.gov.uk or by post, to EDLC Trust, Kirkintilloch Town Hall, Union Street, Kirkintilloch G66 1DH. For more information or a confidential discussion please contact Mark Grant, General Manager on 0141 777 3146.

Applications should be received by Monday 30 March and interviews will be held in April 2020.
