Collections of garden waste will cease in November for a period of three months before resuming in March 2018. Residents are urged to check their waste and recycling calendar for their last collection date.

Councillor Jim Gibbons, Convener of the Council’s Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, said, “With winter on the way there is a significant reduction in the use of green bins as people are less active in the garden and there is little plant growth.

“But if you do find that you do have some garden waste during these months, you can either take it to our Mavis Valley Recycling Centre in Bishopbriggs or you could maybe have a go at home composting.

“I’d like to thank residents for the great job they’ve done in using their green bins for recycling garden waste. The material collected makes a large contribution to the Council’s recycling rate, with 8400 tonnes of garden waste being collected from the kerbside last year. This saves money and cuts the amount of waste we send to landfill.”
