An incredible array of local art will go on display this weekend when the 47th Annual Art Exhibition of Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Lenzie & Campsie Artists officially opens at the Auld Kirk Museum.

The exhibition, which will feature work from over 80 local amateur and professional artists, is one of the highlights of the year in the East Dunbartonshire arts calendar.

Councillor Jim Gibbons, Convener of the Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, said, “There are a number of extremely talented artists in East Dunbartonshire and this event is a great way for them to exhibit their work and share their love of art with everyone within the community.

“I must congratulate all the artists who have contributed to this excellent exhibition.”

Sandy Marshall, Chair of EDLC Trust, said, “This exhibition will show off the talent of both local amateur and professional artists from Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Lenzie and the Campsie area.

“As well as many local visitors and purchasers, people travel from far afield and it is a credit to the artists who continue to produce such a diverse and fresh approach to different art media and subjects. This year’s exhibition promises an intriguing range of work and it is a great opportunity to purchase an original and unique piece of art.”

The exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch opens to visitors from 10am on Saturday 26 August and continues until Thursday 21 September. An official opening and prize-giving ceremony will take place at 2pm on Saturday 26 August and all are welcome to attend.

The museum is open every week - Tuesday to Saturday - from 10am-1pm and 2-5pm
