Exhibition events to showcase plans for new Boclair Academy

Date:
Friday, 21 February, 2020

Members of the public are being invited to find out more about the plans for the new Boclair Academy at drop-in exhibition events being held within the existing Boclair Academy on Inveroran Drive, Bearsden on:

  • Wednesday 4 March from 3.30pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 7 March from noon to 4pm

At the events, interested parties will find out about proposals to construct a new secondary school on the site whilst the existing school remains in operation.

The development will also include the provision of external sports spaces, car parking, landscaping, and associated works such as drainage.

The drop-in sessions are being held to inform interested parties and provide an opportunity to submit comments and feedback prior to a planning application being submitted.

Materials from the exhibition events will also be available on the Council website after the sessions.

Meetings have already taken place with Boclair Academy Pupil Council, school staff, Parent Council and Bearsden East Community Council. Further engagements are proposed with the above groups and local residents.

The Boclair Academy project includes proposals for:

  • A fit-for purpose modern secondary school
  • Improved outdoor sports facilities.

Councillor Vaughan Moody, Joint Council Leader, said, "I would encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more about the proposals for the new Boclair Academy to come along to one of the exhibition drop-in events.  There will be detailed information on the plans to develop a state-of-the –art secondary school for young people in Bearsden.”

Councillor Andrew Polson, Joint Council Leader, said, "This is a welcome development for parents and pupils at Boclair Academy and I’m delighted that the project is moving forward to this stage.  Come along and view the proposals and find out how this new secondary school will benefit the local community.”
