This year’s Education Standards and Quality Report is now available for parents and other stakeholders to view online.

The report highlights the very good and excellent standards and practice achieved by the Education Service in East Dunbartonshire and is offered as a public record of some of the activities which have taken place throughout the year.  All local authorities are required to publish this annual report detailing how improvements in delivering education have been sought and achieved across its schools and services.

Some of the highlights and strengths in East Dunbartonshire during the school session 2015-2016 include:

  • Very high attainment in secondary schools, particularly in SQA examinations.  East Dunbartonshire consistently performs better than comparator authorities;
  •  High participation and achievement in Duke of Edinburgh Awards;
  • The comprehensive provision for young people to support them to leave school to a positive and sustained destination in work, education or training;
  • The partnership working to support vulnerable children and their families; and
  • The successful professional learning programme provided for staff in all sectors by the central teams.

Convener of Education, Councillor Maureen Henry said, “I am delighted to announce the delivery of yet another excellent Standards and Quality Report on the Education Service in East Dunbartonshire.  The report covers all areas of education, from early learning and childcare through to school leaver destinations.  It also details the attainments and continuous improvement identified in all areas including the curriculum, health and wellbeing, school leadership, teacher professionalism and parental engagement.”

Cllr Henry continued, “We are very, very proud of the education service delivered here in East Dunbartonshire which is achieved through great leadership and high teaching standards as well as through parental support and engagement.  I would urge all parents and carers of children at school in East Dunbartonshire to read this report online and see the continuous improvements being made within our schools.”
