East Dunbartonshire Supports Armed Forces Day

Date:
Friday, 23 June, 2017

Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the last Saturday in June each year, and in 2017 this falls on Saturday 24 June.  And East Dunbartonshire Council is demonstrating its support by flying the Armed Service Day flag from its Civic and Corporate Headquarters in Kirkintilloch.

Provost Alan Brown explains, “The UK Armed Forces do an amazing job.  They defend the UK and its interests. They are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security.

“We are delighted to show our support – for our serving members of the armed forces and our veterans and cadets - by flying the Armed Forces Day flag at our Southbank Marina HQ.

“Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families and helps to increase awareness of what they do.”
